Separate inspection from repair
A brake estimate should explain what was inspected, what failed, and which parts are recommended. Pad-only service is different from work that includes rotors, calipers, hoses, fluid, ABS diagnosis, or parking brake parts.
Ask whether the shop measured pad thickness, inspected both axles, checked rotor condition, and tested pedal feel before recommending work.
Questions that make estimates easier to compare
Ask what parts are included, whether rotors are replaced or resurfaced, what warranty applies, whether brake fluid is included, and whether the quote covers taxes and shop fees.
If two estimates differ widely, compare scope before comparing price. One quote may include more parts, better warranty terms, or additional diagnosis.
